IMPRESSIVE Wyong debut winner He’s In Like Flynn will do his future racing in Hong Kong.
Hawkesbury trainer Blake Ryan has revealed the promising three-year-old has been sold.
He’s In Like Flynn bolted home in a Provincial Maiden Plate (1000m) on July 20, and the form was confirmed when fourth placegetter Northern Eyes scored at Hawkesbury last Thursday.
Ryan had hoped to take the son of Showtime back to Wyong for a Class 1 Handicap (1100m) yesterday as a guide to testing him against his own age in the Listed $200,000 The Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 17.
He’s In Like Flynn cost owners Barlaine Racing $350,000 at the Inglis Ready2Race sale in October last year, and Ryan said the youngster was the best horse he has had so far in his stable after he steamrolled his Wyong rivals by more than four lengths.
“Naturally I would have loved to have kept him, but I can’t be upset,” Ryan said on Monday evening.
“The owners got a good offer for He’s In Like Flynn, and that’s business.
“They still have other horses with me.
“He’s In Like Flynn has passed his vet test to go to Hong Kong, and will leave later in the month.”
Ryan, who has been training only since early 2021, has just completed a benchmark season with 13 winners, more than double his six in 2022-23.
Some of his other winners last season have also departed his stable.
Tai Victory, who won on debut at Goulburn on June 21 (defeating Incarcerated, who has since won two in a row at Wyong), and Midori Giant, also a last start winner (at Kembla Grange in February over 1600m), will do their future racing in Hong Kong as well.
“Both horses are owned there, and it was always on the cards they would end up overseas,” Ryan said.
Despite losing several of his last season winners, Ryan hasn’t lost his sense of humour.
“I’ve got two runners at Gundagai on Tuesday, and there’s no chance of them going to Hong Kong,” he said.
“Galactic Angel (Benchmark 58 Handicap, 1180m) most likely is having her last run before being retired to stud, and Call Me Grouchy (Maiden Plate, 1400m) is headed for a spell after this race.”
James Innes Jnr will ride the Ryan stablemates.

Former Irish stayer Changingoftheguard will have his first Australian start at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Now with leading Newcastle trainer Kris Lees after beginning his career with Irish wizard Aidan O’Brien, the Galileo six-year-old will line up in the Premier’s Cup Prelude (1800m).
He has raced nine times for three wins and three placings, and hasn’t started since finishing third in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes (2414m) at the Royal Ascot carnival in June last year.
Changingoftheguard has trialled once for Lees, finishing fifth in an Open heat (1207m) at Warwick Farm on July 26, when ridden by James McDonald.
