BEUZELIN BACK ON HAWKESBURY COLT FOR STAKES TILT

TOMMY Wong will have another crack at a stakes breakthrough with Hostwin King at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

And the Hawkesbury trainer has the three-year-old’s regular jockey back on board for the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m).

Louis Beuzelin partnered Hong Kong-owned Hostwin King to wins at his first two starts at Kembla Grange on June 20 and Canterbury on July 8.

But he was on the sidelines through suspension when the King’s Legacy colt contested the Listed Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill on August 15, and Ash Morgan stepped in.

Hostwin King at $26 wasn’t disgraced when seventh to Chilly Girl, beaten three and a half lengths.

Wong had the choice of two three-year-old features – the Up And Coming, or shorter Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m).

He didn’t bother nominating for the San Domenico, considering the 1300m will better suit his colt.

“Hostwin King won over 1200m at Canterbury, so I feel the 1300m won’t bother him,” Wong said today.

“He has come through the Rosebud well, and Louis came out to Hawkesbury to ride him in a gallop on the Polytrack yesterday morning."

“I didn’t work him on the grass because he can go a bit keen. We put a heart monitor on Hostwin King, and it showed that he is fit and ready to go on Saturday."

Hostwin King is on the limit (53kg), and had drawn barrier eight in a field of 10.

In an open Up And Coming market, Hostwin King was at $12 on Thursday evening, with Plaguarism heading betting at $4.40 with TAB.com.au.

Kembla Grange trainers Paul Murray and Mitch Beer and George Carpenter were successful at today’s Wagga meeting.

Murray won the Ian Reid Open Sprint (1200m) at the Showcase fixture with Gooloo Bucky (Chad Lever).

A $4.80 chance, the five-year-old gelding edged out Eamonn’s Memory ($13) after a good battle in the straight.

This was Gooloo Bucky’s fifth win, and lifted his earnings past $100,000.

Team Beer won the Class 2 Handicap (1200m) with Kool Kade, ridden by Donovan Dillon.
