LEADING Kembla Grange trainers Rob and Luke Price are importing Claire Ramsbotham to hopefully “rock” at Hawkesbury on Sunday.
The talented Canberra apprentice will have her first ride for Team Price on Mr Rock It in the Provincial Benchmark 64 Handicap (1000m).
It will also be her first ride at the provincial track.
“Claire has ridden in some trials for us, and when asked was happy to come to Hawkesbury,” co-trainer Luke Price said this morning.
“Her 3kg claim will be invaluable to Mr Rock It’s chances (62kg to 59kg) of breaking his ‘duck’ at the track.
“He has raced at Hawkesbury six times for four thirds, and was good first-up when fourth over the same distance at home last month with 60.5kg.
“Mr Rock It races well at 1000m (two wins and eight placings from 12 starts), and his best form is on good tracks.”
Ramsbotham has ridden 57 winners, including 20 this season, in a brief career to date.
Mr Rock It will be one of three representatives for Team Price at the Hawkesbury meeting, and another talented apprentice Mollie Fitzgerald will partner the other pair Devine Outcast (Conditional Benchmark 68 Handicap, 1600m) and Jamarni (Class 1 Handicap, 1300m).
“Mollie came to Kembla Grange on Tuesday morning and rode both horses in work, so it was only fair we gave her the opportunity to stay on them on Sunday,” Luke Price said.
“She is in great form.
“Both horses ran well at home the same day when resuming, and are in suitable races.”
Devine Outcast ran second to Nantucket Island in a Provincial Benchmark 64 Handicap (1400m) on November 15, and Jamarni was a close third to Irish Jig in a CG&E Class 1 Handicap (1200m).
Following 88 winners last season, Fitzgerald has already tallied another 32 this season as her star continues to rise.
Team Price will rely on Me Me at today’s Kensington twilight fixture.
Tommy Berry will ride the lightly-raced daughter of Showtime in the 7pm closer; the Benchmark 64 Handicap (1250m).
Stablemates Commanding Belle (Benchmark 64 Handicap, 1250m for three and four-year-olds) and Satness (Benchmark 72 Handicap, 1400m) have been withdrawn.
“Satness (Brock Ryan) will go to a Midway Benchmark 74 Handicap (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on Sunday,” Luke Price said.
“His two runs back have been good, and will appreciate getting back on to a firmer track.
“Commanding Belle also is a Rosehill acceptor, but at this stage we possibly will keep her for a race at home next Thursday.”
Commanding Belle also has been entered for the Magic Millions 3YO &4YO Stakes (1200m) at Wednesday’s Wyong meeting.
