A formal recruitment process has begun to find a new Chief Executive at Hawkesbury Race Club following James Heddo’s decision to finish his duties in mid-July.

Hawkesbury Race Club announced today that Heddo will end his four-year tenure on July 17 to semi-retire and take up a part-time position as General Manager of Central Coast Basketball.

Heddo joined the club on April 1, 2022 and has overseen a period of significant operational, financial and governance improvement there.

Hawkesbury administrator Jo Moore paid tribute to his contribution.

“James has been an outstanding leader for Hawkesbury Race Club,” she said.

“His commitment to restoring the club’s stability and improving its governance has made a lasting difference.

“The club is a stronger and more resilient organisation because of his efforts, and I thank him sincerely for his service.

“A formal recruitment process is now underway and further details will be provided to members and stakeholders once an appointment has been made.”

Explaining the approaching end of his time with Hawkesbury Race Club, Heddo said he had made a considered decision to return to the Central Coast and transition gradually to retirement.

“It has been a privilege to lead the club for four years, and I am proud of what the team has achieved together,” he said.

“I wish the club, its members and everyone involved in racing at Hawkesbury every success into the future.”
