HULL MAKES THE MOVE TO TRAIN AT WYONG

JAKE Hull has shifted camp and is excited to be training at Wyong.

The former Gosford trainer says he has made the decision for the long-term future of his business.

“I’ve still got the track at Feale Park at Somersby, but all my horses will be doing their fast work at Wyong,” Hull said this evening.

“There’s no difference at all in the travelling time.

“We’re situated halfway between both racecourses, and the facilities at Wyong are great, so it was an easy decision to make.

“Wyong chief executive Greg Purcell has been very helpful, and I have spoken with him about hopefully getting boxes on course there sometime in the future.

“A barn of 20 horses would be very beneficial to training our younger horses.”

Hull, who has around 50 horses on his books, will gallop two of his talented sprinters, Valilee and Ferinzo, on the Wyongcourse proper in the morning.

“I’m really pleased with how both horses are going,” he said.

“They both won their trials at Hawkesbury last Monday, and will trial again at Rosehill Gardens on Friday.

“At this stage I’m looking to kick off their campaigns in town in different races.”

Valilee, a lightly-raced six-year-old son of Cox Plate winner Adelaide, has won three of his four starts.

Mitchell Bell has ridden the gelding in three of his runs, and was aboard when he beat five rivals in an 800m heat at Hawkesbury in 46.39 seconds.

Bell also partnered Ferinzo in his 800m heat triumph – also against five rivals – in 47.60secs.

Ferinzo, a five-year-old son of Cosmic Force, has raced five times for three wins and two placings.

He decisively won the Springboard To Fame 2YO Plate (1175m) at Grafton’s July carnival two years ago, and subsequently has won at both the Beaumont track and Gosford earlier this year.

Hull was a busy man at Newcastle’s Beaumont track this morning, trialling nine horses (Lord Vettori, Rubinsky, Valder, Nova Rouge, Eimkir, Luna Statement, Qui Rouge, Rockin’ Red, and Ronardo).

Former country apprentice Jack Baker, who rode six of them, has linked with Hull’s stable.

“Jack is a very good rider who is working hard to resume his career (his last ride was at Moruya on December 21 last year), and I’m glad to have him join us,” Hull said.

Eimker, an unraced three-year-old by former Newcastle sprinter Jonker and raced by Hull’s major client John O’Connor, won his 800m Maiden heat in 47.98secs.
