PRIVATE Harry’s spring campaign is over.

The four-year-old’s Newcastle trainer Nathan Doyle notified RacingNSW stewards today that the star sprinter will not run in Saturday week’s $20m The Everest (1200m) at Royal Randwick.

Private Harry pulled up 2/5 lame in his near foreleg after finishing fifth to Briasa in last Saturday’s Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick, and will return to Sydney later this week and be further assessed at Randwick Equine Centre.

Private Harry was the first horse to gain a slot in The Everest (under the Yulong banner), and a replacement will now have to be found.

Leading Hawkesbury trainer Brad Widdup’s Group 2 winner Jedibeel will be the sole provincial representative in the world’s richest race on turf.

Whilst Private Harry unfortunately is sidelined, Doyle and Kurrinda Bloodstock will have Hidden Motive running for them at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

Ash Morgan, who rode a Warwick Farm double today, partners the three-year-old in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m).

“Hidden Motive ran extremely well from a wide draw when fifth (beaten little more than a length) to Marhoona in the Listed Heritage Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill last Saturday week,” Doyle’s racing manager David Dyson said this afternoon.

“It looks as though he will meet the Golden Slipper winner again, but the Heritage was only his second run back, so we’re expecting another good performance.

“Ash also will ride Overriding for Nathan in the Group 3 The Nivison (1200m) for fillies and mares.”

Overriding was an excellent second in the Group 3 Mona Lisa Stakes (1350m) at Wyong on September 5 before again running well when seventh to Oh Diamond Lil in the Group 3 Tibbie Stakes (1400m) at Newcastle on September 19.

She drew poorly in both provincial fillies and mares’ features.
