DEAMER’S A DYNAMIC “GO TO MAN”

JASON Deamer is the “go to man” when Dynamic Syndications chooses to transfer a horse from a city stable.

And the Newcastle trainer has never let them down.

Deamer continued the tradition of turning Dynamic horses who might not be regarded as being up to city standard into winners when successful with Piccaderro ($8.50) at his home track yesterday.

Provincial king Keagan Latham clinched a treble when Piccaderro defeated Hawkesbury’s Unreal Ecpectation ($3.90 favorite) and Wyong’s Monkhana ($5.50) in the Provincial Benchmark 68 Handicap (1600m).

It was the gelding’s fourth win since joining Deamer’s team, and that represents great credit to the trainer, especially considering Piccaderro had an operation to correct a wind infirmity before returning this campaign.

A four-year-old son of Pierro, Piccaderro fetched $200,000 when purchased by Dynamic at the 2023 Magic Millions yearling sale at the Gold Coast.

He was switched from yesterday’s Group 1 Queensland Oaks winning trainer Ciaron Maher last year after five starts for three minor placings (one of them in town).

Deamer gave him three starts (including a Coffs Harbour placing) when it was discovered he had a breathing problem.

Since returning to work, he has reeled off four wins, beginning at Port Macquarie on January 23 over 1200m, and then Taree (1400m on March 23), Quirindi (1600m on April 28), and yesterday.

“Piccaderro has kept improving, especially as his distances were increased,” Deamer said today.

“He is going great and perhaps there might be an opportunity to try him in town again in a suitable race.

“It’s the right time of the year to do it.”

Dynamic’s understandable opinion of Deamer is such that the majority of horses now in his Newcastle barn race in their colours.

. Kembla Grange trainers Anthony Mountney and Mitch Beer and George Carpenter were provincial winners at the Sapphire Coast today.

Mountney scored with Ciao Bella Mia (Robyn Freeman) in the Benchmark 58 Handicap (1405m) as a $3.20 favorite, whilst Team Beer’s Dirtballer (Amy McLucas) bolted home in the Maiden Plate (1005m) as a $1.95 favorite.
