KERRY Parker is ready to chase an overdue city breakthrough with a “confident” Let’s Go Again.

The multiple Group 1 winning Kembla Grange trainer says the mare’s successful resumption at home yesterday was an important start to her campaign in search of finally making her mark in town.

Ridden by apprentice Olivia Chambers, Let’s Go Again ($3.40 favorite) led her rivals a merry dance in the Provincial Benchmark 68 Handicap (1200m) to post the fourth win of her 22nd start career.

“Let’s Go Again has raced well in town, and has been placed five times without winning,” Parker said today.

“Her last four metropolitan placings have been in Midways, and we’ll go back there soon to try to win one of them.

“But I felt it was important that we start with a provincial race first-up to give her confidence ahead od heading back to town.

“That was a lovely race for her yesterday.

“She can be a bit suspect at the 1200m and isn’t a big mare, and Olivia’s 2kg claim was definitely an advantage.

“Olivia was able to control the race out in front, and the mare did the job well.”

Let’s Go Again, a daughter of Turffontein, is rising seven years of age, but that doesn’t concern Parker at all.

“I didn’t get her until she was four years of age, and her first start wasn’t until toward the end of that season,” he said.

Let’s Go Again not only gained confidence with another victory – her first since May 25 at home last year in a 1200m Benchmark 64 Handicap – but also kept her trainer in the hunt for Kembla Grange local premiership honours.

That took him to 14 local wins for the season, only two behind Mitch Beer and George Carpenter; Let’s Go Again somewhat ironically having beaten that duo’s runner-up Heuristic ($4.40).

There are two meetings left (July 25 on the course proper and July 30 on the inside Illawarra Grange track).

“We’ll see what happens,” Parker said. “You never know your luck in a big city.”

Last season’s premiership winners Rob and Luke Price also were successful at home yesterday with Century Song ($2.50 favorite.

That was their ninth Kembla success this season, and 23rd overall.

Ridden by Tommy Berry, Century Song had no trouble shouldering his 62kg topweight in defeating Shalaa Gold ($3.60), who made a bold attempt to lead throughout, in the Benchmark 64 Handicap (1000m).

Team Beer earned four points yesterday with second placegetters Heuristic and Rose Of Fenway to continue their lead in the All Trainers’ premiership (based on a point system with 3, 2 and 1 for the placegetters).

With 94 points, Team Beer leads Chris Waller (88) and Team Price (70).

It’s been a big week for Wyong trainer Tracey Bartley.

He followed an impressive Warwick Farm victory with Dusty Bay on Wednesday by landing the Midway 3YO Maiden Handicap (1200m) with new acquisition Stakeholder.

Ridden by Rory Hutchings, Stakeholder ($13), with a tongue tie off, finished strongly out wide to defeat Written Doll ($3.20) and Kembla Grange trainer Ross McConville’s $3.10 favorite Creator Of World.

“It was a well executed plan to win first-up with him,” Bartley said.
