A DYNAMIC COMBINATION FOR SURE

THEY’RE indeed a dynamic combination!

Newcastle trainer Jason Deamer is the “go to man” when Dynamic Syndications decides to transfer a horse from a city stable – and did it again yesterday by winning with Just In Time at his home track.

One of the best supported runners at the meeting, Just In Time ($1.90 favorite) was given a perfect run in transit by NSW premiership leader Aaron Bullock in the Provincial Benchmark 64 Handicap (1300m).

The race was a good as over when she surged to the front passing the 200m, and impressively put a gap between her rivals over the closing stages to score by nearly three lengths.

Newcastle trainer Paul Perry and Hawkesbury trainer Steve O’Halloran’s respective pair Flying Argyle ($9.50) and Benamera ($26), whilst no match for the winner, tried hard and filled the minor placings.

Just In Time, for whom Dynamic Syndications outlaid $220,000 to secure as a 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling, is now unbeaten from two starts for her new trainer.

She began her career with Richard and Will Freedman at Rosehill Gardens, and scored on debut as an early three-year-old at Newcastle in October 2023.

Connections thought enough of her to whisk her south afterwards, and she ran fifth in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes, stepping up to 1600m, at the Melbourne Cup carnival at Flemington.

Just In Time also contested the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1600m) at Newcastle a fortnight later, and after a lengthy break found herself in Ciaron Maher’s stable.

She was placed once (at Hawkesbury) from three starts before being transferred to Deamer.

“Just In Time had a few little issues earlier on, but is a sound mare and is heading in the right direction,” Deamer said today.

“We’ll be looking to try to win one in town with her in the near future.”

Just In Time scored first-up at Hawkesbury on June 17 in a Midway Class 1 Handicap (1300m), and has now been successful at three of her eight starts.

Deamer began training for Dynamic six years ago with a Lope De Vega gelding named Decroux.

He won four races – including two at Canterbury and the 2020 Taree Cup – with him, and the horses and winners have continued to flow since.

Deamer keeps an average of 12 horses in his boutique stable, and says 80 per cent of them are owned by the Sydney-based syndicator.

Interestingly, four-year-old mare Just In Time is by Justify and Deamer has a different target in mind with another Dynamic four-year-old by the same stallion, in the gelding Justifiably.

Whilst he captured last year’s Grafton Guineas (1600m) at the July carnival with his good mare Rapt, he won’t have a runner at the two big days on Wednesday and Thursday.

Instead he plans to start Justifiably in a Benchmark 58 Handicap over a marathon 3120m at Sunday’s carnival closer.

“He’ll stay all day, and the Grafton winner becomes eligible for the Jericho Cup (4600m) at Warrnambool in late November,” Deamer explained.

“We’ll have a crack at the Cup if he is successful next Sunday.”

Justifiably was an eight-start maiden (though placed on five occasions) before joining Deamer, who has won twice with him (at Port Macquarie over 1509m in April and 2000m at Taree in May).
